We have been able to introduce the Deutschlandticket for students at our university. However, the hvv only offers this in digital form. As is so often the case in Germany's digital desert, this presents the hvv with "unforeseeable" challenges...

We have received several enquiries regarding the semester ticket over the last few days. One of the most frequently asked questions is about copying the semester ticket and checking it throughout Germany.

Below you will find more information about the current semester ticket.

FAQ

How do I get the semester ticket?

Here's what you need to do to get the semester ticket:

  1. Click on this link to register for the semester ticket. This is the link from the QR code provided by the hvv.
  2. Alternatively, you can also log into the university's VPN and go through the university's instructions (https://www-dev.tuhh.de/tuhh/studium/im-studium/rund-um-den-studierendenstatus/deutschlandsemesterticket).
  3. You will then be redirected to the university login. There you enter your login details as usual.
  4. After logging in, you will be redirected to the web application for the semester ticket. There you will find your ticket and can present it. It is important that you show the QR code on a digital device (computer, smartphone).

You can also save the ticket in a wallet, e.g. on your smartphone (Android: Google Wallet, iOS: Apple Wallet), to save you having to log in to the web application in the future.

Is the Deutschlandticket included in the semester ticket?

Yes, the current semester ticket is the Deutschlandticket.

Can the semester ticket be printed out?

No, the semester ticket is not recognised as a valid ticket, either printed out or as a screenshot. The semester ticket must be available on a digital device - i.e. a computer or smartphone.

The semester ticket is valid when the web application for the semester ticket or the wallet with the ticket is presented.

I don't have a computer or a smartphone.

The semester ticket is currently only available for digital devices (computers, smartphones, etc.).

The hvv is currently working on a solution for special cases that are not able to use the semester ticket via digital devices.

I am having problems registering for the semester ticket.

If you have any problems registering for the semester ticket, please contact the Computer Centre or the TUHH User Service Centre (USC).

We consider the implementation of the Deutschlandticket for students to be an important thing - not only because it is cheaper, but also because we can use this ticket for public transport throughout Germany.

We understand all students who need an "analogue" semester ticket because, for example, they do not have a digital device. We have already made the hvv aware of the problem and they are already working on a solution.

We will of course keep you up to date and hope that we can solve the problem of a missing ticket alternative as quickly as possible.
