Every year, the Ditze Foundation awards a cash prize to students and a doctoral candidate. The best bachelor's thesis, best master's thesis and best doctoral thesis are honoured. A prize is also awarded to students who do voluntary work on campus for students and the TU.
This year's award ceremony traditionally took place on 3 July in the Ditze lecture theatre in Building H. The AStA is particularly pleased that the prize for honorary office was awarded this time to a working group, namely the DuckING AG, and a former AStA member, Geerish Sahye.
DuckING AG was honoured for its commitment to the renaturation of the TU pond. In the summary of the laudation it says: Strengthening campus life, redesigning the TU pond to create physical and mental relaxation, contributing to positive environmental design, developing new technology, promoting soft skills, interdisciplinary, intercultural - and all this with joy and on a voluntary basis alongside studying.
The second award winner is Geerish Sahye, who has been doing a great deal for the student body, especially international students, for many years. He has put together a comprehensive brochure called "First Steps in Hamburg", which is sent to international students with their letter of admission. It contains information on everything they need when they arrive in Hamburg. For example, where to find which authority, which documents are needed where, how the public transport system works, where to look for accommodation and how to find your way around the TU. Another example is the AStA interpreting service, which was also initiated by Geerish.
