We have been collecting plastic lids at the TUHH for more than two years now. The box for this is in the foyer of Audimax 1 and the second collection point is the AStA. On Mondays, when employees come with two guests from the day care center to ask for waste paper in the committee corridor, they also take the plastic lids with them.
And what do they do with it?
At the day care center, people with disabilities do various things that make our everyday lives easier. They have fun doing these things and it gives them the feeling that they are doing something useful. In the case of the plastic lids, they sorte them by color at the daycare center and then the lids are shredded. The shredded material then goes back into production.
When we started the campaign here, the aim was to collect enough lids for a bench. In the meantime, there are already many benches. The material is also used to make toolboxes and the handles for the tools that go into the boxes.
When the question arose as to how the benches should look, whether monochrome or colorful, the daycare center decided on colorful. “We are also colorful and diverse. That's how the benches should look too.”
The benches have already been installed in one park or another. We would be very happy if such a bench could also be found on the TU Campus.
