Every semester, the general assembly of the student body takes place on the Wednesday of the 2nd week. This time, the plenary meetings of the student councils will take place directly afterwards and not, as usual, one week later. No courses may take place during the plenary meetings.
If you are now wondering why you should come to the Assembly instead of going for coffee or going home, then please read on.
The General Assembly is the highest body of the students
Resolutions passed here are binding for the student representatives.
In other words, this is where the students - you and I - say what is important to us and how the committees should deal with it. And you have to be there to do that. And for the plenary assembly to be able to make decisions, enough students have to be there.
Important information for YOU and YOUR studies
The AStA and StuPa will inform you about all important matters that are pending at the plenary meetings. This includes things such as changes to the ASPO (examination matters), overcrowded classrooms or bookable study rooms, semester fees or the Deutschlandticket. Things you need to know so that you can organize your studies as smoothly as possible.
Self-management has something to do with “doing something yourself”
Committee work - i.e. an office in the FSR or AStA - is not everyone's cup of tea. That's absolutely okay. Nevertheless, you have the opportunity to have a say, e.g. through the elections and by taking part in the general assembly. Even as international student. There you can ask your questions and vote directly. After all, any student representation is only as good as the students who support it.
So, prospective engineers take matters into their own hands. That's why they go to general asselblys and use their democratic right. And then things run smoothly.
